A daily WhatsApp group report for managers
If your team coordinates in WhatsApp groups, you do not need to read every message to know how the day went. A daily report reads the group for you and sends the short version at a time you pick, such as 9 PM.
What a good daily report contains
- Decisions that were made and who made them.
- Open questions nobody answered.
- Deals, jobs or tickets that are stuck and why.
- Who contributed and who was quiet.
- What is planned for tomorrow.
How to set it up
Group summaries and group management for teams are part of the Scale plan. See the group summary guide for how the digest is produced.
- Link a dedicated number and add it to the work groups you want covered.
- Pick the groups, the time (for example 9 PM every day, or weekly) and what you want to know.
- Read the digest in the app, and switch on WhatsApp delivery to get it as a message too.
Make the report useful
- Keep one group per team or project, so each report has one topic.
- Ask the team to write updates in full sentences, not just emojis. The digest is only as good as what is written.
- Review the report in a regular meeting, so people see it is read.
Turn the report into data
If you want numbers, such as messages per person or updates per day, send group messages to your own system through webhooks and count them there. The WhatsApp webhook tutorial shows how. We can also build the report view for you: email [email protected].
Frequently asked questions
What time can the report arrive?
You choose the time, for example 9 PM every day.
Can I cover several groups?
Yes. One summary can cover several groups, with a combined overview, or you can set one up per group. Add the linked number to each work group first.
Does the digest get posted in the group?
No. Summaries are not posted to the group. You read them in the app, and can have them sent to you on WhatsApp.
